"Mallard Drake"

This Mallard drake from my hunting rig is also based on the “Shang” Wheeler pattern that I used for my Black Ducks. The paint pattern is my own, and is a bit more artistic or“painterly” than literal.   I found that with 5 or 6 Black Ducks in varying attitudes in the basic rig I really didn’t need many Mallards, but they sure look pretty on the water.  I can make them with various head positions for variety. The few hen Mallards in the rig are usually in sleeping or resting positions.  This decoy has a keel and is branded “Joe Seme” on the bottom.
