"Cobb" Style Curlew The Curlew is probably the most common Cobb shorebird decoy. Most are fairly large, but like most decoy makers, the Cobbs made all sizes and varied the attitudes of their decoys for the sake of realism in a rig. As any good guide knows, if you were to look at a flock of birds at rest, it would be nearly impossible to see them all in the same exact position or attitude. The Curlew pictured here is one of the smaller ones, about 12” bill to tail. He has a hardwood bill, glass eyes, carved wings and tail, and weathered paint accompanied by some shot holes. My signature initials are carved under the tail and he comes with a wood stand.
