"Verity" Style Peep (#042) The decoy shown here is another “Peep” (or Sanderling) based on an original carving by Obediah Verity, of Seaford, Long Island. “Peeps” were probably the majority species of Verity’s shorebird output, along with Black Breasted Plovers, and an occasional Robin Snipe. I have carved several “Verity” type “Peeps,” and as one would expect with original carvings, no two are exactly alike. This one is about 6 ˝” from bill to tail, has carved wing tips, carved eyes and has strong paint, as would be found on a well-used, but well cared-for decoy. It has my initials carved under the tail and a wood stand is included.
